The latest version of Massive's proprietary Masstech engine allows for a full 360° range of camera control and features advanced lighting and physics effects.
The Masstech engine is pretty open-ended system and can be adapted to several different platforms. It is perhaps further away from the Mac OS than any other, but it's do-able.
