Cold War
Cold War is a period extending from the end of the 1950s to the late 1980s during which two ideologically opposed blocs emerged within the world system, both with nuclear capabilities. It was between the United States and the former Soviet Union which involved no direct conflict between the two nations but instead was characterized by a multibillion dollar nuclear arms race and numerous conflicts between secondary nations backed (sometimes publicly, sometimes secretly) by each nation.
The "COLD WAR" name was a definition by Walter Lippman essayist and journalist.
